Italy is included in the exothermic climate, but due to its latitude extension and the sea that surrounds it, presents a large variety of local climates.
These are mountain climate, continental climate, and Mediterranean climate.
Mountain climate
It interest all the Alps and the internal Apennines range. Characterized by heavy temperature variations, both annually and daily. The rainfalls are abundant on average, while in the Apennines they are fewer.
Continental climate
It's characterized by a heavy annual temperature variation and its typical of the Po Valley.
Mediterranean climate
There are 4 sub-types of Mediterranean climate
- Ligurian and Tuscany climate: hot weather in summer and mild in winter.
- Tyrrhenian and Ionian coastal: abundant rainfalls, especially in winter.
- Low Adriatic: hot and dry in summer.
- Islands climate: hot, arid and longer summers, humid and short winters. Rainfalls are scars.
