Rome Ciampino airport transfers
(info about airport shops)
Rome Ciampino Airport is the second airport in Rome and is situated just outside the big ring road (Grande Raccordo Anulare).
It's mainly used for the low-cost flights, such Ryanair and EasyJet. There is only one Terminal and its proximity to inhabited areas prevent further development.
Arrival at the Ciampino airport
The moment you get off the airplane I recommend you to address as soon as possible the immigration zone with a passport and a visa.
Depending on your nationality you may need both, one, or only your ID. In addition, you must keep the form you filled on the airplane.
Waiting for your baggage
Once passed the immigration control at the airport, it's the moment to pick up your baggage. I hate to say it but the average waiting time in Ciampino is long, if you are very lucky it can take about 20 minutes, but usually, it took from 30 to 45 minutes.
It is advisable to change your money for the trip in some of the ATMs.
Do a tour of Ciampino airport
It is possible to do shopping and eat and drink something in a warm and comforting environment.
Transfer from Rome Ciampino airport to the city
The nearest train station to the Giovan Battista Pastine Airport is in the town of Ciampino, connected to the airport by COTRAL/SCHIAFFINI buses every 30 minutes.
The journey time is, on average, 5 minutes. The cost of the ticket, for sale both on board and from the ground staff is 1 euro.
A light rail service connects the Ciampino railway station to the Termini railway station in an average time of 15 minutes.
Rome Ciampino Airport can be reached with a number of buses.
The service operates every day, from Monday to Sunday.
Tickets can be purchased online, at the authorized agents located in the Arrival Terminal or on board the bus.
All the bus stops are opposite International Departures.
Or you could rent a car!
The last solution and probably the better and that will give you the freedom to visit all the city and its surroundings without having to wait for buses or trains is to rent a car.
One of the best options is Rentalcars Connect, a partner of Booking.com, where the quality of the service is at the first place.
Taxi service is available at the Arrivals Terminal.
Authorized Taxi vehicles are white with a “TAXI” sign on the roof. The symbol of the Municipality of reference is fixed to the front doors and the license number is located on the doors, on the back and inside the vehicle.
Any other vehicle could be driven by persons not in possession of a valid taxi permit.
Fixed fares (each way) for some destination, including all supplements, are as follows:
- Rome city center (within the Aurelian Walls): € 30

All the above fares are fixed by the responsible municipality and may change, even without notice. For further informations please check the website of the relevant Municipality.
